A man accused of hitting someone in the head with a hammer and robbing them on Christmas Eve has been arrested, according to court records.

Tavaris A. Hill, 22, of 1711 Fifth Ave. N., was arrested by Webster County sheriff’s deputies and charged with first degree robbery, willful injury causing serious injury and going armed with intent.

The attack happened between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Dec. 24, 2025, at the Bob Hay Memorial Conservation Area along Rich Mill Road on the west side of Fort Dodge, according to the criminal complaints filed against Hill.

Deputies wrote in the complaints that Hill hit another man in the head with a hammer twice and robbed him.

Hill was arrested by deputies Thursday at his home. He made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Friday.

Magistrate Sarah J. Livingston set a preliminary hearing for Jan. 26. She issued an order prohibiting Hill from having any contact with the man he is accused of hitting and robbing.

She ordered that Hill be held in jail with bond set at $40,000 cash only.
