Iowa Central STEAMfest is Thursday
The Iowa Central Community College STEAMfest will be held Thursday evening on the Fort Dodge campus.
It will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Career Education Building.
Hands-on activities in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics will be featured. The activities will be best suited to students in kindergarten through sixth grade.
The STEAMfest is free and open to the public.
Organizers say the goals of the festival are to promote, inspire and engage youth in STEAM activities and to introduce people to STEAM careers in their communities.
Exhibits will feature interactive STEAM activities for children and their parents.
Among other things, attendees can get up close to insects from the Iowa State University Insect Zoo, explore the Iowa Corn trailer, and learn about drones from the Iowa State Patrol.
Participating organizations and businesses include Woodruff Construction, Fort Dodge Robotics, Nestle Purina PetCare, Koch Fertilizer Fort Dodge, Fort Museum and Frontier Village, Fort Dodge Fire Department, Fort Dodge Police Department, Ag in the Classroom/Wright County Farm Bureau, IPTV, Fort Dodge Recreation Department, Iowa Corn Growers, Webster County Conservation, Boy Scouts of Iowa, Fort Dodge Fiber, MidAmerican Energy, Community Health Center of Fort Dodge, LifeServe Blood Center, ISU Extension — Blender Bike, Iowa Central nursing program, Martin Marietta, Learn & Play, New Century FS, Iowa Central computer networking tech program, Grell Roofing, Spock’s Sanctuary, Studio Fusion, Iowa Central vet tech program, Lazy J Rescue Ranch, and Studio Sol.
