Fort Dodge native John Roby, a former boxing champion, coaches a boy as he learns to hit a punching bag recently. Roby worked with the boy and others during a Sept 19-20 trip to the Grand Rapids, Michigan, area. Roby traveled to Michigan to work with young people and sign copies of his book, “The Belt of Wisdom.” He worked with kids learning to use the punching bag on Sept. 20 at the Holland Charter Township Community Center. Roby was the International Boxing Organization’s super featherweight champion in 1993 and 1994.
