Photo by Julie Vinsand, The Gowrie News A homicide investigation is currently being conducted in Farnhamville, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation has confirmed.

An official with the Department of Criminal Investigation has confirmed that one person is in custody in the death of a 17-year-old Farnhamville girl.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched Sunday evening to the city park in Farnhamville on a report of a missing juvenile female. At that time, deputies detained a male subject.

Upon further investigation, law enforcement located the deceased body of the juvenile female this morning.

DCI and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office have stated that “there is no ongoing threat to the public.”

Charges are pending against the suspect in custody.
