“Stories in the Garden” is the theme of the club’s Flower Show to be held this weekend in The Lion’s Den in Armstrong Park on Exposition Drive.

The show hours are 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.

“It’s one of a kind,” said Nancy Phillips, a garden club member. “It’s once a year. There’s no other show like this in Fort Dodge.”

According to Phillips, club members created displays that reflect the theme.

The different display categories include “Tell Me a Story,” “Table Artistry,” and “Short Stories.”

There will also be a horticulture display featuring flowers without any accompanying display. Phillips said there is usually about 100 entries in the horticulture show.

She said all the entries will be judged by four certified flower show judges from another community. All judging will be done before the doors open to the public at 1 p.m. Saturday, so visitors can see what flowers and displays won ribbons.

Tickets for the July 6 Twilight Tour of area gardens will be for sale at the show.
