In an effort to enhance safety near Southeast Valley Middle School, the Webster County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution in May to establish a school speed zone along Paragon Avenue near the school. Located in the unincorporated town of Burnside, SVMS is the only school in Webster County not in a city. In the School Speed Zone, the speed limit is 25mph on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Yellow solar-powered lights flash during the effective hours. The signs and lights were recently installed by Webster County Sign Technician Rick Zimmermann.
