Webster County Supervisor Niki Conrad will serve a second term as the supervisor for District 4.

Conrad, a Democrat, won her re-election campaign with 1,281 votes on Tuesday. She defeated Republican challenger Reggie Simmons, who received 1,089 votes.

“I’m incredibly humbled and honored to receive the support of the voters in District 4,” Conrad told The Messenger Tuesday night. “I’ve worked tirelessly the last four years to bring transparency to Webster County and I look forward to continuing that to earn the trust that the voters today placed in me.”

Conrad commented on her opponent in the District 4 race.

“My hat’s off to Reggie for offering himself up to the voters of District 4,” she said.

The Messenger also reached out to Simmons after Tuesday’s results came in.

“It’s been a great opportunity to be able to represent the Republican Party,” he said. “My family and I — my wife and children — we respectfully and diligently canvassed for this position.”

Simmons said running for election gave him a great opportunity to talk with the residents of Webster County and, win or lose, he and his family planned to give thanks to God.

“We really just sought to do our best and run a fair and ethical campaign, and that’s what we went out and did,” he said. “The results didn’t turn out as we’d hoped, but we were grateful for the opportunity.”

Conrad was first elected to the Board of Supervisors in 2018 when she narrowly defeated incumbent Merrill Leffler, a Republican, in the general election. Conrad received 1,274 votes and Leffler received 1,182 votes.

“We have a lot of things going on in Webster County and there’s a lot more work to be done,” Conrad said Tuesday.
