Ten Fort Dodge streets will get a fresh coat of asphalt this summer as a result of a roughly $1 million contract awarded by the City Council Monday.

These streets will be repaved:

• 24th Street between 13th and 15th avenues south.

• 25th Street between 13th and 15th avenues south.

• 26th Street between 13 and 15th avenues south.

• 27th Street between 13th and 15th avenues south.

• 28th Street between 13th and 15th avenues south.

• 14th Avenue South between Oleson Park Avenue and South 28th Street.

• Avenue M West.

• Fox Briar Boulevard.

• Fox Ridge Drive.

• Fountain Circle.

The council hired Fort Dodge Asphalt Co. to do the work at a cost of $1,073,677.52.

The council also hired Weikert Contracting Inc., of Cedar Falls, to paint lines and other markings on streets at a cost of $64,205.30.

Iowa Plains Signing, of Slater, offered the only other street painting bid of $98,462.40.

Both contracts were awarded on unanimous votes.
