Triton Academy to offer new experience for ICCC students
Through an expansion of the Career Academy, Iowa Central will open the doors on Triton Academies to better serve the nine county school districts they partner with.
Triton Academies, located on the Fort Dodge campus, will allow high school students to experience college classrooms with traditional students before they decide on their future. They will also give them the upper hand on beginning their college programs and degrees.
“Our purpose at Iowa Central is to have students finish their degree or certifications in the least amount of time possible and with the least amount of student loan debt so they can have a better life,” said Dr. Jesse Ulrich, Iowa Central president. “We are excited to partner with our school districts across the nine counties we serve to implement ‘Triton Academies.’ This will allow greater access to career paths while students are still in high school. It also allows a smoother transition for high school students by providing them with a college experience on campus or online.”
Classes available for students include areas such as automotive, culinary, human services, secondary education and welding. Triton Academies will also provide online opportunities in a number of careers, including criminal justice, elementary education, psychology and social work.
Iowa Central has built a strong tradition within the Career Academy for nearly a decade, expanding the opportunities for students that will allow them to get ahead before transferring or entering into the workforce.
“Community colleges continue to be the statewide leader in producing a quality workforce,” Ulrich said, “and Triton Academy will enhance our efforts of serving this region and the state.”
Enrollment begins in fall 2022 for Triton Academy.
