State Marching Band Festival is today

Several marching bands from around Iowa will descend on Dodger Stadium this morning for the State Marching Band Festival.

Fort Dodge will host 18 bands beginning with Class 1A with the first performance by The Solid Gold Marching Band from Algona’s Bishop Garrigan at 9 a.m. Next will be The Tiger Marching Band from Madrid, followed by The Pride of the Saints from Saint Ansgar.

Class 2A will begin with The Marching Knights from Kuemper Catholic High School at 9:50 a.m. followed by The Marching Bulldogs from Ogden, The Marching Falcons from Aplington-Parkersburg, The Cardinal Pride Marching Band from Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, The Pride of West Marshall from State Center, and The Marching Band from Lake Mills.

There will be a lunch break before Class 3A performances begin at 12:30 p.m beginning with The Cub Pride Marching Band from Nevada, The Tiger Pride Marching Band from Carroll, The Marching Band from Forest City, The Bomber Marching Band from Huxley, The ELC Marching Band from Estherville, The Scarlet Regiment from Algona, and The Wild Cat Marching Band from Humboldt.

Class 4A will begin at 2:20 p.m. with The Bobcat Marching Band from Marshalltown.

The Fort Dodge Senior High All-American Marching Band will wrap up the day with their performance set to begin at 2:35 p.m. They will perform their show “Moulin Rouge” featuring solos by Abby Meyer, Anna Marxen, and Aaron Amhoff.

Gates open at 8 a.m. Admission will be $7 for adults, $5 for seniors, and $3 for students.
