Gibbs’ murder conviction upheld
The Iowa Supreme Court on Friday upheld Levi Gibbs’ III second-degree murder conviction in the killing of Shane Wessels, of Fort Dodge.
Wessels was shot and Killed in September of 2017. Gibbs was convicted for the crime in July of 2018.
Gibbs was sentenced to the maximum term of incarceration of 50 years in prison and must serve at least 35 years before being eligible for parole.
Gibbs filed a notice of appeal and the case was heard by the Iowa Supreme Court. The court affirmed Gibbs’ conviction.
