Man pleads guilty to federal meth charge

SIOUX CITY — A Fort Dodge man has pleaded guilty to a federal drug charge in connection with a methamphetamine conspiracy.

Andrew Smith, 32, of Fort Dodge, pleaded guilty on April 7 to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in federal court in Sioux City.

Smith admitted that he was involved in a conspiracy to distribute at least 5 kilograms of meth mixture from 2012 through November 2015.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office, Northern District of Iowa, on two occasions in 2015, Smith was found in possession of more than 27 grams of pure meth.

Smith also said he planned to distribute some or all of the meth to others.

He will be sentenced once a pre-sentence investigation report is completed.
