Scooter’s opened a coffeehouse and drive-thru location at 2949 Fifth Ave. S., which formerly housed Taco John’s.

The Fort Dodge location is owned by Blake and Lindsey Jochim. The Jochims also recently opened a new Scooter’s Coffee store in Indianola.

“We were so excited to bring the Scooter’s brand to Fort Dodge,” said Lindsey Jochim. “We wanted to provide a comfortable space for the community to enjoy a warm cup of coffee, and we really hope they love this coffeehouse location.”

Scooter’s offers an extensive menu of coffee drinks, teas, smoothies and food. Each of the espresso drinks are available hot, iced or blended. The company also recently started selling its first-ever ready-to-drink canned flavored lattes.

The coffee shop’s signature drink is the Caramelicious, which fuses espresso with caramel sauce. It’s blended in an ice cream base and topped with whipped cream.

Scooter’s Coffee is a drive-thru franchise that has been serving coffee for more than 20 years.

There are nearly 300 locations in 17 states across the U.S.

According to a company spokesperson, Scooter’s has commitments to build new stores in 24 states.

The company plans to open many additional locations in 2020.

A grand opening of the Fort Dodge location will be held Oct. 23.

On that day, customers who pay or scan for loyalty on the Scooter’s Coffee mobile app will earn 50 bonus smiles.

With the app, customers earn 3 “smiles” for every dollar spent. Once they reach 180 Smiles, they earn a free drink. All customers start in the Scooter Doodle status level, with perks that include a free drink on their birthday and one surprise reward per month, exclusive to the mobile app only. After earning 500 Smiles, customers move into the Caramelicious status level with additional perks, including another surprise reward each month.

To pay with the app, customers simply need to link a credit card and tap “Pay in Stores” from the home screen. Then, if they choose to tip, they can select a custom amount or percentage prior to scanning their app. Customers also have the option to pay with cash or a gift card and still earn loyalty through the app by using the “Scan to Earn Loyalty” Only QR code.

The company’s founders, Don and Linda Eckles, opened the first Scooter’s Coffee shop in Bellevue, Nebraska. That coffeehouse opened in 1998.

The two had wanted a place where customers could come in to sit and sip or drive-thru if they were in a hurry.
