What is the name of your business? Grell Commercial Roofing, LLC

Where it is located? 2125 Lainson Ave., Suite 1

When was it founded? Roughly around 1983

Who are the key leaders?

I would have to say that being 100% owner of Grell I (Erica Grell) am the go-to or key leader when it comes to the entire company. Every employee has their roles which are key in our company but depending on what you’re needing is how I would identify who is the “key leader”. For my office/daily operations, my office manager Laura is who would be the major leader there. If you’re needing to talk to someone about marketing I would tell you Penny. For anything from measuring a job to problem solving, my operations guy Chase would be the leader. Last but not least the key leader to my actual roofing crew would be my foreman, Bubba. From the biggest to the smallest jobs whether they’re consider a leader or not their commitment to the company makes them key!

How many people does it employ? 15-20 depending on the time of the year

What products and services do you provide?

Grell Roofing provides a variety of materials for commercial flat roofs. We have roofing systems from PVC, TPO, to a product called Duro-Last

What are you doing differently to serve customers during the pandemic?

We are overall just playing it smart. Keeping track of who is going where and practicing all recommended CDC guidelines. We have slowed down a bit in the past few months so with that being smart and conscious about the jobs we take.

What is the biggest challenge your business has overcome recently?

Getting the word out they we are definitely still available 24/7 for all of your roofing needs and while things in the world are a little bit in the unknown, our commitment to our customers is the absolute same.

What is the biggest success your business has experienced recently?

Back in January we were named a Platinum contractor with one of our manufacturers Duro-Last roofing. That means we did a combination of a few things such as laid so many feet of their product and scored very well on a certain criteria they hold their contractors to. Also, being able to help our fellow Iowans in need will always be a success to us. We’ve been helping out with the half of the state that was hit by the derecho storm doing temporary roofs and whatever they need.
