Orthopedic Specialists, 2700 First Ave. S., was recently awarded a three-year term of accreditation in magnetic resonance imaging – MRI – as the result of a recent evaluation by the American College of Radiology. The ACR is a national professional organization with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology, as well as the delivery of comprehensive health care services. The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are expects in the field.

MRI, a noninvasive medical test that utilizes magnetic fields to produce anatomical images of internal body parts, is used to help physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. During an extensive survey of Orthopedic Specialists’ MRI Department, qualifications of personnel, quality control measures, safety policies and image quality specific to MRI were reviewed.

Orthopedic Specialists is located in Fort Dodge and partners with Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion.
