An Iowa High School Music Association State Marching Band Festival will be held Oct. 12 at Dodger Stadium.

Twenty bands from throughout central Iowa will participate in the festival. Area bands competing include: Fort Dodge Senior High, Algona, Bishop Garrigan, Humboldt and Pocahontas Area.

Bands will begin performing at 9 a.m., with performances continuing throughout the day.

FDSH will wrap up the competition with its performance at 3:05 p.m.

Bands will be evaluated and judged on six categories: Marching and Maneuvering General Effect, Marching and Maneuvering Execution, Music Execution, Music General Effect, Percussion and Color Guard.

“We are excited to once again host State Marching Band contest,” said Al Paulson, FDSH band director. “We hope people will take advantage of this opportunity to not only support the Dodger marching band on our home field, but also to experience great performances by the bands all day.”

The festival is open to the public. Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for adults over 62, and $3 for students in grades kindergarten through 12. There is no admission fee for children younger than kindergarten.
