Dodgers successful at Special Olympics Area Bowling

Forty-five Dodger athletes competed in the Special Olympics Area Bowling meet at Ridgewood Lanes on Oct. 17.

Sixteen of the athletes earned first place and will move on to the state competition Nov. 23 in Des Moines.

Students finishing in first place were: Slade Babb, Payton Wuebker-Brookshire, Landen Stanley, Kaleb Hammersland, Robin Everhart, Tyler Petersen, Dylan Lincoln, Sydney Derrig, Avery Dial, Logan Schwieger, Toby Madson, Jasmine Hamilton, Christopher Holmes, Kylene Fetters, Marlene Sassman and Ty Stephens.

Students finishing in second place were: Robert Jorgensen, Courtney Jo Hamilton, Madisen Hansen, Katlynn Lafluer, Jonathan Zigrang, Tanner Hammersland, Gaven Hanson, Lilly Walters, Quentin Derrig and Dalton Coppinger.

Students finishing in third place were: Carter Petersen, Chancellor Shivers, Alisa Murry, Seth Gardner, Jayden Stanley, Taytum Lind, Heath Newburn, Caleb Sitterle, Angel Gervacio, Steven Summers, Mackenzie Derrig and Scott Boro.

Additional place winners for the Dodgers were: Nolan Slininger (4th), Damian Hanrahan (4th), Alfredo Sandoval (4th), James Williams (5th), Landon Moeller (5th) and Quentin Berube (6th).

“Our students did amazing,” said Liz Rusher, Fort Dodge Community Schools Special Olympics coordinator. “It’s rewarding to see our students having fun and achieving success. I look forward to another great experience for the students who qualified for state.”
