Algona H.S. marching band earns I rating at State Marching Band Festival

The Algona High School Scarlet Regiment Marching Band performed at the IHSMA State Marching Band Festival and was awarded a Division I rating for its performance in Fort Dodge on Oct. 7.

This was the 39th time the band has had its performance awarded a Division I since it began attending the State Festival in 1977. This year marks their 32nd consecutive Division I rating. The 90-member band performed a show entitled “Scarlet Jazz,” with repertoire including “Open Up Wide,” “Let the Good Times Roll,” and “Hey Pachuco!”

The Scarlet Regiment, directed by Kurt Kissinger, will have its final performance on Friday at the halftime of the Algona High School home varsity football game.
