Toni Nixon, PCT, receives ROSE Award

Toni Nixon

Toni Nixon, a patient care technician in the Infusion Center, received the ROSE Award at UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center.

She was nominated by Tara Lager, a registered nurse, and team members in the Infusion Center.

“Toni is the backbone of the Infusion Center,” they wrote in nominating Nixon. “She is an integral part of the team, being the go-to person for any questions on scheduling or insurance issues — not just for our staff, but other clinics that send patients to the Infusion Center. Toni creates a unique bond with each patient, making sure they receive the best standard of care and that their needs are being met. She supplies the unit with items for kids, such as stuffed animals, coloring books, and has spare clothing for her patients if the need arises. She is always doing extra for staff and patients by acknowledging birthdays and special occasions. Toni has developed a good work relationship with many interdisciplinary team members, from pharmacy to different clinics. She is the heart of the Infusion Center.”

The ROSE Award stands for Recognition Of Service Excellence and is handed out to patient care technicians who consistently demonstrate excellence through clinical expertise, extraordinary service and compassionate care. They are recognized as outstanding role models in the nursing community.

Patient care technicians can be nominated for the ROSE Award by patients, their family members or team members at UnityPoint Health.
