Polka Fest returns in Dakota City

Event was canceled in 2020

DAKOTA CITY — The 31st Annual Midwest Polka Fest will be held Saturday during Labor Day Weekend. The event was first held in 1990 and has featured more than 10 Midwest polka bands.

This year it will be held at the VFW, located at 412 Main St. in Dakota City. Previously, it was held at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds. The event will also only be one day as opposed to other years when it has been held over several days. The event will be held from 1 pm. until 9 p.m.

Admission is $15 per person for the day. The event was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Leon Olsen Show will kick off the event and play from 1 to 3 p.m. and again from 5 to 7 p.m. Next up to the stage will be Dain’s Dutchmen and they will play from 3 to 5 p.m. and again from 7 to 9 p.m.

There will be food and drinks available during the event.

Camping will be available at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds located about a mile from the VFW. There are several hotels in the area as well.
