The Fort Frenzy silent auction item at the 10th annual Almost Home Fur Ball in March 2018 included a cute litter of toy dogs and puppies along with a pass. The annual event, held in the Fort Dodge Ford Lincoln Toyota showroom, raises money for the Almost Home shelter of the Humane Society of North Central Iowa. In 2017, Almost Home helped 293 dogs and 254 cats find forever homes. The evening included both live and silent auctions, raffles, entertainment and food by Amigos with desserts from Hummingbird Confections and Larita’s Cakes ’N’ More. This year’s Fur Ball will be held on Saturday.

Almost Home’s 11th annual Fur Ball is sneaking up like a cat stalking its favorite toy. Hosted by Fort Dodge Ford Lincoln Toyota and sponsored by Nestle Purina PetCare, the Fur Ball will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday in the Fort Dodge Ford Lincoln Toyota showroom.

Guests will enjoy fun times with friends while they raise much needed funds for the furry friends at the Almost Home animal shelter. Almost Home is a limited intake no-kill shelter that provides care for dogs and cats until a forever home is found. As a nonprofit organization, Almost Home is funded solely from donations. All proceeds from the Fur Ball will help to pay for supplies, animal care, and whatever else is needed to keep the shelter running.

Almost Home wants guests to raise their paws in the air to show how much they care during the live auction. Unless of course, they are the strong, silent type, like a big, beautiful Great Dane, and the silent auction is more their style. Either way, there are great items available for both auctions. Looking for a quick getaway out of Dodge? Bid on the tickets for Air Choice One. Want to see how Mr. Sprinkles spends his day? Bid on the Furbo Dog Camera and see, talk and toss treats to Mr. Sprinkles from far away. There will also be raffle and door prizes.

Guests and their “dawgs” are encouraged to dance the night away to music by Cory Waller of the Jay Clyde Band. All the cool cats can also enjoy the photo booth to help capture the best memories of the night. Games like bingo, giant Jenga, cornhole toss and more will also be available for those who find themselves more playful throughout the evening.

Once again, delicious food will provided by Amigo’s, and an assortment of delicious dessert items will be provided by Larita’s Cakes N’ More and Hummingbird Confections. No one will be leaving the event hungry. There will also be a cash bar available throughout the night.

Almost Home is currently seeking volunteers to assist with socializing the dogs and cats currently at the shelter, or assisting with their care. For those interested in volunteering at the shelter, please call the shelter directly at 955-8343.

Tickets to the Fur Ball are available now at Hy-Vee Fort Dodge and Humboldt, Fort Dodge Ford Lincoln Toyota, and Almost Home. Tickets purchased in advance are $20 per person or $30 per couple. Tickets purchased at the door are $25 per person.
