Brown Bag Briefings at FDPL

The Friends of the Fort Dodge Library announce this fall’s installment of the Brown Bag Briefings. They are held at noon every Thursday, beginning Oct. 8, in the meeting room of the Fort Dodge Library, 424 Central Ave. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch. Water, coffee and cookies will be provided. The briefings last one hour and the public is invited to attend. There is no charge for admission. Bling-a-Book is Oct. 22 at Harcourt Library

HARCOURT — Bring your favorite book and join us at 6 p.m. on Oct. 22 at the Harcourt Library, 106 W. Second St., Harcourt, to bling it out. Call 515-354-5391 to register for this event. Snacks and drinks will be provided. This program is $5 per person for materials.

Fonda Arts Center to hold food drive

FONDA — The Fonda Arts Center will host a fundraiser and food drive from 1 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 11. This event, co-sponsored by MAGS 4 Fonda, will feature Classic Country Music performed by Dan Keen of Newell, and Gloria and Randy Mobley and Larry Heschke of Fonda. Music will start at 2 p.m. Food donations should be non-perishable items, and monetary donations are also appreciated. All this happening on the northwest corner of Fourth and Main in Fonda, where admission is free and refreshments complimentary.

Harcourt Library to hold craft workshop

HARCOURT — The Harcourt Public Library will hold a polymer ghost craft workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 13 at the church, 106 W. Second St. Participants will mold two ghosts, bake them and then decorate them with decoupage. There is a $5 charge for materials.

Lake City church to hold ice cream social

LAKE CITY — Lake City Union Church Women will hold an ice cream social from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 4 at the church. The menu includes pulled pork sandwiches and homemade pie and ice cream for a freewill donation. Carryouts will be available.

Lehigh Methodist to hold Second Sunday Supper

LEHIGH — Lehigh United Methodist Church will hold its Second Sunday Supper from 5 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 11 at the church, 386 Spencer Hill St., Lehigh. The menu includes a variety of soups (chili, vegetable, chicken noodle, broccoli cheddar), salad, dessert and drink for a freewill offering. Dine in or carry out.
