CALLENDER — Women of the Word at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Callender, are holding its annual Christmas Fair from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 6 in the church fellowship hall. There will be a bake sale, lefse sale and lunch. Beef burgers or chicken salad in a krumkake bowl with salads, cookies and Scandinavian pastries will be served for $10. The fellowship hall is handicap accessible through the north or south doors.
A Concert of Advent and Christmas music is 7 p.m. on Dec. 2, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, 239 N. 11th St. The concert will feature Jive for Five and organist Jason Swedlund. The concert is free and open to the public thanks to the St. Olaf Lutheran Church Foundation.
DAYTON — The Dayton Lions Club is holding a turkey dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the Dayton Community Center, Dayton. Tickets may be purchased from any Lions member, at Johnson & Sons, 29 S. Main, Dayton, or call 515-547-2317. Adult tickets are $15, tickets for children to age 12 are $5, and preschoolers are free.
The first annual Holiday Market vendor and food fair is noon to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 29, at the Pavilion Sports Complex, 260 S. 27th St. There will be a variety of vendors, food and drinks, live music and entertainment. Santa’s grand arrival will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday with a Santa meet and greet from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will also be a food drive for The Lord’s Cupboard. Food and cash donations will be accepted. Admission to the market is free.
Santa will arrive at the City Square at 5 p.m. Dec. 1, for the gazebo lighting and then travel along Central Avenue to Veterans Triangle Park for the tree lighting. From 5:30 to 7 p.m., visit with Santa, write letters to Santa and do crafts at the Wells Fargo/ISU Extension Building, 822 Central Ave.
