Kendall Young Library January adult libary programs announced

WEBSTER CITY — Kendall Young Library will be having adult programs throughout the month of January.

Resume Workshop — Kendall Young Library will be hosting a Resume Workshop, presented by Iowa Works on Monday from 11 a.m. to noon. Anyone looking for tools, tips or a critique of a resume is invited to join. This is a great resource if you are needing to start a resume from the beginning or just need an update. All ages are invited.

Adult Daytime Book Club — Kendall Young Library invites you to join in the January Book Club discussion on “How To Read A Book,” by Monica Wood. This book is available at the adult checkout if you are interested in participating. We will be meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 13, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. to discuss. A book for the February Book Club will be announced at this time.

Adult Evening Book Club — Kendall Young Library invites you to join in the Adult Evening Book Club discussion about “Orbital” by Samantha Harvey. This book is available at adult checkout if you are interested in participating. We will be meeting on Jan. 14, from 6 to 7 p.m. February Book Club books will be available at this time.

Books & Bourbon Silent Book Club — Kendall Young Library is working with Wildcat Distilling Co. to offer patrons a Silent Book Club. Due to relocation, the Silent Book Club will be held at Kendall Young Library in January and February. Adults are invited to gather at Kendall Young Library on Thursday, Jan. 15, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Bring a book, grab a drink (mocktails provided) , and enjoy an introvert happy hour. This event is always the third Thursday of each month.

Puzzle Exchange — Kendall Young Library is inviting patrons to bring in, up to two, like new puzzles to exchange for “new to you” puzzles. Beginning on Monday, Jan. 19, patrons can drop off their puzzles and get a ticket(s) to be redeemed starting on Saturday, Jan. 24. We ask that the puzzles you are wanting to share in the exchange be clean and have all the pieces. This exchange is focusing on puzzles 500 pieces or larger.

Fiber Arts Hangout-Crochet Workshop — Fiber Arts hangout is back at Kendall Young Library. Are you crafty or looking to pick up a new hobby in 2026? This is a chance to craft and chat with fellow makers. Whether you are a knitter, crochet, embroider, hand-stitch or enjoy other fiber crafts, this is a low key hangout on the fourth Thursday of each month (unless we are closed for holidays) from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. We meet in the Genealogy Room at the library. Bring a project you are currently working on or just a desire to try something new. Some basic materials are available for beginners.

Puzzle Competition (ages 14+) — Register for a fast-paced Puzzle Competition at Kendall Young Library. Teams of four will compete to finish the puzzle first. Join us on Saturday, Jan. 24 beginning at 10:30 a.m. to be the team to finish first. Call or register online. This event is free. Teams of four must include a minimum of one adult. Registration required.

Adult DIY — Kendall Young Library will be hosting Adult DIY on Tuesday, Jan. 27, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Patrons can work their magic using watercolors to create a snowman wonderland. This event is free and does not require registration. Bring a friend and enjoy the evening out.

Free Seed Giveaway — Kendall Young Library and Nine Square Feet will be offering a variety of seeds to assist patrons planning their spring planting. Seed will be available on Saturday, Jan. 31. Make sure to stop in and get seed while supplies last.

SPICE Club — Kendall Young Library invites you to add some spice to your life with the KYL Spice of the Month Club. We will be featuring Sumac. Samples will be available throughout the month while supplies last. This is a fun way to explore different cultures and flavors. Each month there will be a featured herb or spice. A limited number of kits will be available each month with a small sample, information about the spice, and a couple recipes to try.
