GOWRIE — Don and Phyllis Rasmussen, of Gowrie, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Jan. 9. There will be a celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. on Jan. 14 at the Heartland Bank Community Room in Gowrie.

Their family includes Mark and Joan Rasmussen, of Owatonna, Minnesota; Dan and Cheryl Rasmussen, of Harcourt; Joel Rasmussen, of Ames; Sue and Eric Lakin, of Fort Dodge; Melissa and Wesley Baker, of Slater, Missouri; and Tom and Stacey Rasmussen, of Gowrie. They have 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Don Rasmussen and Phyllis Brundage were married on Jan. 9, 1954, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm. He farmed the family farm until 2016. She raised six children while helping farm and was a part-time dental assistant. They will also be celebrating their 90th birthdays in 2024.
