First outdoor meet for Gael boys, girls

EARLHAM — The St. Edmond boys and girls track and field teams battled dropping temperatures to compete Tuesday outside for the first time this spring. Aaron Hindt led the way for the Gaels, as the junior won the 200-meter dash in a time of 23.38. He was also third in the 100 in 11.54. Several others picked up silvers, including Anna Lursen, Anthony Valles and Naomi Valles, along with the SEHS girls sprint medley relay. ALGONA — The Fort Dodge girls track team got one final indoor event before the regular outdoor season begins. It was the first meet in the new Algona Fieldhouse on Monday. “Algona has a terrific new facility,” said FDSH head coach Todd Constable. “I talked to Andy Jacobson about it and they let us into (the field). “It’s good for us to get another meet under our belts.” Senior Maeleena Meyer was the champion in the 60 meter hurdles.
