Assumption back again

The Davenport Assumption softball team is as battle-tested as anyone here playing at Rogers Park this week. After falling behind early to Benton, the Knights rallied, advancing to another state finals with a 10-7 victory Wednesday evening. Davenport Assumption (27-12 overall) will now face Williamsburg on Friday at 2:30 p.m. on Channel Seed Field. The 2023-24 school year has been filled with memorable moments for Eddyville-Blakesburg/Fremont. On Tuesday at the state softball tournament, the Rockets added another highlight to the reel. Playing at Rogers Park for the first time since placing second in 2017, Eddyville-B/F topped Northeast in a Class 2A quarterfinal, 6-1. After placing second last year in Class 2A, the top-ranked Bulldogs pushed their current win streak to 38 straight with a convincing 10-0 victory in six innings over West Fork here Tuesday at Rogers Park.
