Wants better upkeep of Warden Plaza

To the editor: I recently contracted a case of Bell’s Palsy and was in the care of staff at Trinity Regional Hospital for three nights. While there, I was on the third floor of the northeast wing. As I looked out the window, I could see the image of the downtown skyline. It is a beautiful image of the river valley and the downtown and a majestic array of lights in the dark of night with lights blinking red. Evening Lions Club to disband

To the editor: The Fort Dodge Evening Lions are sad to announce that due to a lack of members, the Evening Lions will disband on June 30, 2025. We, however, would like to say thank you to all of our awesome sponsors and all of our friends and neighbors who have supported us for 51 years of raffles and other ways that we made money to support our club and donated money to several organizations in the area and state and county, which we are very proud of doing. Thanks public schools

To the editor: As another school year comes to an end, I want to take the time to thank public schools throughout the U.S. Thank you to the school board, administration, teachers, para educators, teacher associates, custodians, kitchen crews, volunteers, etc., and all those who are substitutes for them. You are all vital components to public education and our communities. Gives thanks for Honor Flight trip

To the editor: Dear Mr. Ron Newsum and board members: I want to thank you for the awesome Honor Flight trip you and the sponsors provided us veterans on May 7, 2025. I had heard that this was an amazing trip but this day was beyond words. WOW! Seeing all the memorials with fellow veterans made it even more meaningful. Realizing the great sacrifices men and women have made over the past 250 years, we know that our freedoms we enjoy today came with a very high price. Wants common sense back in government

To the editor: Common sense tells me that if I am in debt and want to maintain the quality of life that I am used to, I certainly wouldn't go ask my employer to start paying me less money. It seems to me that is what our government is doing every time they want to cut taxes. I used to work as a mechanic at a local gypsum factory that was a training facility for engineers right out of college. I remember times when they would come up with plans to make the plant more efficient, and although things really looked good on paper, we had already tried these plans, and they wouldn't work. ...

Thanks Iowa Central for veterans project

To the editor: On Tuesday, April 22, Iowa Central Community College hosted a ceremony to honor 55 Vietnam servicemen from communities in the area who lost their lives in a country thousands of miles from their loved ones, their friends, their homes. The ceremony was a formal introduction of the book “Before They Were Soldiers”, a collection of short stories from family members and friends of the lives and the remembrances of those 55 men before they entered the service.
