Fort Dodge Choral Society accepting scholarship applications
Applications are now being accepted for $1,000 music scholarships from the Fort Dodge Choral Society for the 2024-2025 school year. Applicants must be college students majoring in vocal music performance or education with a sophomore, junior, or senior status by the beginning of the award year. Students attending an Iowa community college, college or university and graduates of the Fort Dodge area attending any college or university are eligible to apply. Facing Autism prom March 2
Facing Autism Inc. is holding Midnight Garden Prom from 5:30 to 9 p.m. March 2 at the Best Western Starlite Village Inn & Suites, 1815 Third Ave. N.W. The prom is for individuals ages 16 and older. Tickets are $15 per person and must be purchased by Friday. Each ticket includes a pasta bar, salad, garlic bread, cupcakes and a drink. Blanden to hold meet the artist reception
The Blanden Memorial Art Museum, 920 Third Ave. S., will hold a reception for Colin C. Smith from 2 to 4 p.m. on Feb. 17. Refreshments will be served. Smith’s exhibit is called “Soft Geometry.” A statement from the Blanden states that Smith’s “latest exhibit is a captivating exploration of material sensitivity and abstract expressionism, seamlessly transcending traditional boundaries. Almost Home pizza fundraiser underway
Amigo’s, 280 N. First St., is now conducting a pizza fundraiser for the Almost Home Humane Society of North Central Iowa. For every pizza it sells through Sunday, the restaurant will donate $5 to Almost Home. The fundraiser is Amigo’s way of celebrating National Pizza Day and Puppy Bowl XX.
Almost Home to offer free dog clinic
A free community veterinary clinic for dogs will be held from 9 a.m. to noon March 2 at the Almost Home Humane Society of North Central Iowa, 725 S. 32nd St. The clinic will offer an overall health evaluation, vaccines, comprehensive testing and microchipping. Appointments are required. To schedule an appointment, call 515-955-8343. The clinic is a partnership between Almost Home, the Association of Shelter Veterinarians, The Bissel Pet Foundation and Amigo’s in Fort Dodge.
