Winter trivia night Feb. 29

The Friends of Webster County Conservation present Winter Trivia Night 2024, “It’s for the Birds,” on Feb. 29 at River Hops Brewery, 1014 Central Ave. Happy hour starts at 5:30 p.m. with trivia beginning at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds will fund a Motus Bird Tracking Tower at the River’s Edge Discovery Center. There will be six rounds of trivia with prizes for each, plus a grand prize for the top team. Snacks will be served. A benefit for Jon Widen, who was injured in a motorcycle accident, is 3 p.m. to midnight Feb. 24 on the second floor of The Eagles, 1018 First Ave. N. There will be food, bands and solo artists and live and silent auctions.

Threats at Manson Northwest Webster addressed

MANSON — Two threatening statements affecting Manson Northwest Webster Community School District have been investigated this week. Earlier in the week, district administrators and local law enforcement officers investigated a statement made off school grounds regarding a weapon. “There is no evidence that a student brought a weapon onto school grounds at any time,” district Superintendent Justin Daggett wrote in an email to parents. Fort Dodge Choral Society accepting scholarship applications

Applications are now being accepted for $1,000 music scholarships from the Fort Dodge Choral Society for the 2024-2025 school year. Applicants must be college students majoring in vocal music performance or education with a sophomore, junior, or senior status by the beginning of the award year. Students attending an Iowa community college, college or university and graduates of the Fort Dodge area attending any college or university are eligible to apply. Facing Autism prom March 2

Facing Autism Inc. is holding Midnight Garden Prom from 5:30 to 9 p.m. March 2 at the Best Western Starlite Village Inn & Suites, 1815 Third Ave. N.W. The prom is for individuals ages 16 and older.
