WEBSTER CITY – Back by popular demand, Friends of the Kendall Young Library will be hosting a Whiskey and Wine fundraiser at the Wildcat Distilling Co., 626 Second St., Webster City, from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. This event will offer a variety of appetizers, drinks and homemade desserts. Tickets are required and can be purchased for $50 at Kendall Young Library, Webster City. Ticket availability is limited to 50.
DUNCOMBE — Brushy Creek State Recreation Area is holding a solar eclipse hike at 1:30 p.m. Monday. Experience the partial solar exlipse while enjoying views of Brushy Creek Lake. Meet at the West Trail Bridge parking lot, 2554 Union Ave., Duncombe. Some viewing glasses will be available or bring your own.
The regional landfill south of Fort Dodge will close at 1 p.m. Thursday for a software conversion, according to an announcement from the North Central Iowa Regional Solid Waste Agency. No commercial or residential customers will be allowed on the site after 1 p.m. The landfill will reopen at 7:30 a.m. Friday.
Traffic on Fifth Avenue South between 29th and 31st streets will be limited to one lane in each direction beginning this morning, according to an announcement from the Fort Dodge engineering staff. This traffic restriction will be in place for about a month while a concrete patching project is underway. The City Council hired Castor Construction, of Fort Dodge, last month to do concrete work on Fifth Avenue South and 15th Street at a cost of $563,206.

The VFW Auxiliary is serving a hot beef dinner with real mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, dessert and coffee from 4:30 p.m. until gone Saturday at the VFW Post 1856, 518 S. 29th St. Tickets are $10 per person. The meal will be served dine in or carryout.
