Part of S. 22nd Street to close Monday

South 22nd Street between Eighth Avenue South and 15th Avenue South will be closed beginning Monday for concrete patching and water valve replacement work. Intersections will remain open except at Eighth Avenue South, Highland Park Avenue and 10th Avenue South. All through traffic should use Fifth Avenue South to 32nd Street to 15th Avenue South.

Holiday will impact yard waste collection

Yard waste will not be picked up curbside on Friday due to the Independence Day holiday, according to an announcement from the Fort Dodge Public Works Department. The Central Garage and yard waste disposal site will be closed on Friday. Garbage collection on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday will go on as scheduled The recycling collection scheduled for Wednesday will go on as scheduled.

Dolliver Memorial State Park hits century mark

OTHO — Dolliver Memorial State Park in Webster County was established 100 years ago. To mark the milestone, Park Manager Kevin Henning will give a presentation on the park’s history at 11 a.m. Saturday in the South Lodge. When it was established in 1925, Dolliver Memorial State Park was the third one in the state park system, according to Henning. He said Backbone State Park near Dundee in Delaware County was the first state park. Ledges State Park near Madrid in Boone County was the second one.

FD student named to Dean’s List

Ty Adams, of Fort Dodge, was named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at the University of Wisconsin — Oshkosh. To make the Dean’s List, a student must earn a 3.75 grade point average

Student makes St. Mary’s Dean’s List

William Kahle, of Algona, was named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota in Winona, Minnesota. To be named to the Dean’s List, he had to earn a grade point average of 3.6 or better.
