CDA to meet May 14

The Catholic Daughters Court 216 meeting will begin at 6 p.m. on May 14 at the Corpus Christi Center, 405 N. Eighth St. Mass will be held at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and a speaker. CDA Sister Angela Croonquist will talk about her small business in superfoods, including Spring Creek Honey and fresh microgreens. There will also be a CDA business meeting. ‘Retracing the Dragoon Trail Book’ talk set for May 12 at FD Public Library

Kevin Mason will be at the Fort Dodge Public Library, 424 Central Ave., to discuss his new book “Retracing the Dragoon Trail in Iowa” at 6 p.m. on May 12. In his book, Mason traces Iowa’s transformation from prairies and wetlands to farms, towns, and transportation networks, beginning with the 1835 expedition of the First U.S. Dragoons. He connects these changes to Manifest Destiny, military expansion, and settler colonialism, while highlighting the often-overlooked perspectives of the Sauk, Meskwaki, Dakota, and other indigenous nations. Final Brown Bag Briefing is Thursday

The Friends of the Fort Dodge Library announce this spring’s installment of the Brown Bag Briefings. They are held every Thursday at noon beginning April 9 in the meeting room of the Fort Dodge Library. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch. Water, coffee and cookies will be provided. Nielsens will perform at the Fonda Arts Center

FONDA — The father/daughter acoustic duo of Josh and Rowyn Nielsen will perform at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Fonda Arts Center. Rowyn Nielsen is in the band Heritage, has played Varina’s town celebration with her family, called The Nielsensations, as well as singing at her church and for weddings. Josh Nielsen has helped form and played with several bands over the years, including Third Warning with Larry Heschke and other talented local musicians. Meals On Wheels is looking for volunteers to be part of the meal delivery team. • Meals are delivered Monday through Friday. • Meals are picked up at Hy-Vee at 10:45 a.m. • Routes have 10 to 12 stops. • Delivery takes approximately one hour. • You deliver once every 10 weeks.
