Iowa man sentenced to 10 years for chase that injured deputy
MANCHESTER (AP) — A Manchester man who hit a pedestrian and then led authorities on a chase that ended with a sheriff’s deputy seriously injured has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Kevin Krapfl, 30, was sentenced recently after pleading guilty to causing a serious injury with a vehicle, leaving the scene of a serious injury crash, operating while intoxicated-third or subsequent offense and operating without an interlock device.
As part of a plea deal, other charges were dropped, The Dubuque Telegraph Herald reported. Authorities said Krapfl hit a pedestrian April 18 in Oelwein and then fled from authorities. The pursuit ended when Krapfl’s vehicle hit a patrol vehicle driven by Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputy Dan Walter, who was seriously injured.
