Cyclone women storm back; double-double for Crooks

AMES — A key bucket by Audi Crooks in the fourth quarter helped propel the Iowa State women to a 74-64 victory over No. 24 West Virginia here Wednesday night.

The Cyclones (11-4 overall, 4-0 in Big 12) erased a 19-point deficit, outscoring the Mountaineers (13-2, 2-2) over the final 10 minutes, 27-9.

Crooks, who led Bishop Garrigan to back-to-back Class 1A state basketball championships, had 22 points and 11 rebounds.

The win was the seventh straight for Iowa State and 75th over a Top-25 team under Bill Fennelly. The program has 79 wins over Top-25 teams all-time.

Emily Ryan had 10 of her 13 points in the fourth with Addy Brown adding 12 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and a block.

Crooks, a freshman, has scored in double figures in 14 consecutive games. This was her fifth 20-point performance of the season and second double-double.

The Cyclones welcome in another ranked opponent on Saturday, hosting No. 4 Baylor at noon.
