AMES — Iowa State will pay tribute to Jack Trice Saturday night when they welcome in TCU.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Jack Trice Stadium with the game airing live on FOX Sports 1.

This will be the Jack Trice Legacy Game, the culmination of a year-long celebration in honor of Trice. The Cyclones will wear throwback uniforms that have elements from Trice’s era, with the same logo at midfield.

Trice became the first African-American athlete for Iowa State College when he joined the program in 1922. He died a year later due to injuries suffered in a game against Minnesota.

“It’s not a gimmick. It’s not a t-shirt. It’s not a uniform,” ISU head coach Matt Campbell said of honoring Trice. “It’s trailblazing. It’s courage (that) probably, in a lot of ways, what we’re missing today in our society – being willing to stand for something and being about something.”

Iowa State has won three of the last four meetings with the Horned Frogs, falling last year to to the eventual national runner-up champions. ISU has won the last three meetings in Ames by an average of 22 points.

Last week, the Cyclones fell to Oklahoma, 50-20, falling to 1-3 over the last four games. Iowa State topped Oklahoma State in its conference opener two weeks ago, 34-27.

Rocco Brecht has thrown for over 1,000 yards with nine touchdowns, as Jaylin Noel has caught 24 passes for 250 yards and a pair of scores. Cartevious Norton has 143 yards rushing and freshman Abu Sama III has 133.

TCU is 3-2 and has split its two league games, besting Houston before falling last week to West Virginia, 24-21. The Horned Frogs graduated Iowa native Max Duggan, as Chandler Morris replaced him at quarterback.

Morris has thrown for 1,419 yards with 11 touchdowns and just three interceptions, adding 235 yards and three scores on the ground. Emani Bailey leads the ground attack with 538 yards while JP Richardson has 17 receptions for 272 yards and a score.
