Iowa heads to Nebraska for regular-season finale
LINCOLN, Neb. — Iowa looks to close out the regular season on a high note with its annual “Black Friday” game at Nebraska.
Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. The contest will be televised by CBS.
The Hawkeyes (7-4 overall, 5-3 in the Big Ten) narrowly escaped Michigan State last Saturday on Senior Day at Kinnick Stadium, 20-17, to snap a mini-losing skid. Kaden Wetjen returned another punt for a touchdown — breaking Tim Dwight’s program record — and Drew Stevens kicked a last-second field goal to cap Iowa’s rally from a double-digit fourth quarter deficit.
The Cornhuskers (7-4, 4-4) are coming off a 37-10 setback at Penn State.
Head coach Kirk Ferentz’s squad has prevailed in 10 of the previous 12 meetings with Nebraska, with six straight wins at Memorial Stadium and two in a row in the series.
Iowa is attempting to reach the eight-win plateau for the 10th time in 11 years, with the only exception being its 6-2 COVID season in 2020.
Nebraska hasn’t won eight games in a season since 2016.
