Dodgers can’t catch Trojans
WATERLOO — The Fort Dodge boys were within earshot of Waterloo East heading into the fourth quarter here on Tuesday, but the Trojans pulled away for a 73-50 IAC Northern Division victory.
The Dodgers trailed by just six points at halftime and only 10 heading into the final frame, but the Trojans (6-7 overall, 3-2 in the league) turned on the afterburners and went on a closing 25-12 run.
Sophomore Reggie Pederson had 19 points to pace Fort Dodge (1-13, 0-5), but no other Dodger contributed more than eight. The visitors made only one three-point basket.
Tisyn Hook (8), Teddy Johnson (6) and Taevon Feeley (6) followed for FDSH, which was within a single basket late in the first half.
Post player Quayshon Harrington-Johnson led East with 17 points. Dejon Bynum added 16. Both are seniors.
The Trojans have now taken four straight in the series and seven of eight overall dating back to 2022.
Fort Dodge hosts rival Mason City on Friday, with the varsity boys contest tipping off at 7:45 p.m.
