Dodgers earn two silvers in Des Moines

DES MOINES — The Fort Dodge swim team competed at Des Moines Roosevelt on Thursday night.

The Dodgers lost to Des Moines Roosevelt 128-40.

Evan Cooper placed second in the 100 butterfly (1:04.69) and Colin Roberts was runner up in the 100 backstroke (1:09.20).

“Colin and Evan both had some good swims,” said Fort Dodge head coach Ashley Beaumont. “Evan had his best time of the season and we tried some different things with Cooper.

“Our 200 freestyle relay is taking shape. We had a great time and some pretty good splits.”

The quartet of Cooper, Kael Keith, Roberts and Matt Besch were second in the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:44.17.

It was a good night for the Dodger JV team as they won 28-7.

Kason Echevarria (100 freestyle) and Elijah Lawrence (100 breaststroke) brought home golds. Ayden Hernandez (50 freestyle) and Kobe Bacon (100 freestyle) were both second.

“I was really pleased with our JV,” Beaumont said. “We came away with some first places and the boys did a good job.”

The Dodgers are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Southeast Polk.
