AMES — The Fort Dodge cross country team competed here Thursday at the CIML Iowa Conference meet.

The Dodger boys finished fifth overall led by Joshua Meier with the girls placing seventh.

Meier was 11th overall in a time of 16:58.

“I was really pleased with our runners,” FDSH head coach Joe Jackson said. “I’d say probably 90 percent of them recorded personal bests including some lifetime bests.

“It was a really windy night, so to put out the times they did shows just how hard they have been working.”

Ryan Madden was 26th in 18:00 with Carter Delanoit finishing 32nd. Michael Wagner was 34th, Nathan Rethwisch 44th, Jason Hobmeier 45th and Jaren Christy 46th.

For the Dodger girls, Isabel Beekman was 36th in 23:00 with Alexis Read placing 42nd, Piera McBride 44th, Dari Cook 45th and Hannah Drummond 46th.

“Michael really had a nice race, cutting almost 45 seconds off his personal best,” Jackson said. “Our junior varsity runners also had great times.”

Ankeny Centennial won the boys team title with Akol Atack of Ames earning the individual race. The Jaguars also won the girls team crown as Ankeny’s Lauren McMahon won the individual race.
