The big inning didn't come until the sixth for Ankeny Centennial, but the Jaguars did enough before that to put Southeast Polk away here Tuesday night, 8-0 in six innings.
The second-ranked Jaguars (40-3 overall) are now just one win away from reaching the Class 5A title game where they will face either Southeast Polk or West Des Moines Valley, who would need to earn two wins over them to advance.
Mady Ott added to the record-breaking team home run total for Ankeny Centennial, as Kori Lincium was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI. Jordyn Kennedy had two hits and scored twice.
Lauren Sandholm worked six innings of three-hit softball, striking out one and walking one.
During the regular season, Ankeny Centennial topped Southeast Polk in all three games, winning by scores of 5-3 twice and 7-3 once. They have lost twice to No. 1 Waukee Northwest and once to third-ranked Valley this season.
