Peyton Stineman homered and both Lily Knutson and Natalie Hora each ahd two hits and two RBI to lead Cedar Rapids Kennedy to a 7-1 victory over Pleasant Valley in an elimination game in Class 5A.
Knutson dominated the Spartrans on the mound, striking out 13 with just six hits allowed. The one run scored was unearned, as she also swiped a pair of bases and scored two runs.
For Pleasant Valley, Maggie Bowman had an RBI and Paetyn Peterson added two hits with a run scored.
West Des Moines Valley 6, West Des Moines Dowling 5
Valley prevailed in the battle for West Des Moines at state softball, eliminating Dowling in a Class 5A contest here Tuesday, 6-5.
The Tigers plated three in the fifth to take the lead, holding off the Maroons after they scored a run in the sixth.
Ilsa Herve had a home run, driving in three for Valley, as Kari Rose had two hits with an RBI and a run scored.
For Dowling, Kylie Matejski went deep, finishing 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Madison Nagel had three hits.
