Grand View Christian 4, Iowa City Regina 2
Grand View Christian completed the sweep, reaching the Class 2A title game with a 4-2 victory over Iowa City Regina Wednesday night at Rogers Park.
The Thunder rallied in the sixth, scoring all four runs to erase the 2-0 deficit. They will now take on Wapsie Valley on Thursday at 5 p.m. for the gold.
Grace Kruse had a triple and drove in a run, as Maiah Murphy plated two runs for Grand View Christian. Chloe Cox worked around five hits to earn the win inside the circle.
For Iowa City Regina, Lexi Gaffey had three hits with an RBI, as Lily Nibaur added an RBI and scored a run.
Wapsie Valley 5, Logan-Magnolia 1
Wapsie Valley started fast and never looked back, plating two runs in the first, two more in the third and an extra run in the fifth to advance to the Class 2A final with a 5-1 win over Logan-Magnolia.
Sawyer Buhr had two RBI, as Loal Destival and Espyn Decker each scored twice for the Warriors, who will meet Grand View Christian on Thursday at 5 p.m. for the title.
Decker had two hits and Destival swiped a pair of bases, with Taylor Buhr earning the win inside the circle.
Whitney Hawkins scored the lone run for Logan-Magnolia.
Grand View Christian 11, Iowa City Regina 8
Nine runs in the fifth and sixth innings allowed top seed Grand View Christian to hold off elimination, besting Iowa City Regina, 11-8.
Down 4-1, the Thunder rallied, plating a run in the fourth, four in the fifth and five in the sixth, as the Regals scored four in the sixth to retake the lead for a short time.
Sophie Bird, Chloe Cox and Harper Rosado all went deep for Grand View Christian, as Bird and Rosado both drove in three. Lily Nibaur and Harper Erwin had three hits apiece for Iowa City Regina, as Nibaur scored twice and Rosado drove in two.
Logan-Magnolia 8, Ridge View 4
Gracyn Stone was 2-for-3 with a home run and a double, driving in three to lead 11th-ranked Logan-Magnolia to an 8-4 victory over Ridge View in an elimination game.
Whitney Hawkins drove in two with two hits, as Maci Bertelsen and Kennedy Evans each added an RBI. Campbell Chase struck out five inside the circle.
For Ridge View, Cora Tesch was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored, with Reese Hawthorne driving in two. Madelynn Horan also had three hits and scored twice.
