Top-seeded Adel-ADM continues to be the steady hand of the Class 4A state softball tournament.
Senior Lauren Hagedorn did it all, slugging two home runs and firing a three-hit shutout as the Tigers advanced to the championship round with a 7-0 victory over Western Dubuque on Channel Seeds Field.
The Iowa State University recruit went deep with a pair of two-run shots, clearing the fence once in the third and another in the sixth. She now has 15 homers on the year.
The rest of the 4A bracket has been chaotic, but ADM (36-4 overall) is in the finals with a perfect 3-0 mark this week at Rogers Park. The Tigers defeated the fourth-seeded Bobcats here for a second time in as many days after rallying late for a 6-5 victory on Tuesday.
This one was a no-doubter, thanks in large part to Hagedorn (19-4). Elliotte Von Roden added three hits and an RBI in the victory, with No. 9 batter Ellis Smith going 2-for-2 and scoring three times.
Kinzee Maxwell also had a pair of doubles for the Tigers.
The rest was in the capable hands of Hagedorn, the first team all-stater who has been a key component during ADM's recent state stranglehold. The Tigers are making their sixth consecutive appearance in Fort Dodge this week.
Racquel Fern had two of the three hits for Western Dubuque, which bows out at 34-10.
