MIAMI, Okla. – Instead of Kansas, the 13th-ranked Iowa Central football team heads to Oklahoma for its final road trip of the regular season here Saturday.

The Tritons tangle with Northeastern Oklahoma A&M from Red Robertson Field. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.

Iowa Central (5-3 overall) got back in the win column with a 23-22 victory at Independence last weekend. Maddox Griswold had two receiving touchdowns and over 100 yards, as both Nick Cyrus and Gabe McWilliams had passing TDs.

Cyrus also had a rushing score for the Tritons, who went 4-1 vs. Kansas schools on the road this year. They conclude the year with No. 1 Hutchinson inside Dodger Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 7.

"We made some changes to give guys more playing time and I think they really came through for us," ICCC head coach Colby Kratch said. "We had kids take over and really help us close out that game on the road.

"It was great to see our offense put us ahead early in the fourth (at Independence) and the defense kept them out of the end zone for the final 12-plus minutes."

Cyrus finished 7-for-19 passing for 214 yards, adding 45 rushing yards. Ethan Johnson had 75 rushing yards and Griswold recorded three receptions for 117. TyJohn Brooks led with six catches for 157 yards.

Karsten Bernholtz had five tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks for the Triton defense vs. the Pirates. Myles Turner picked off a pass and DJ Davis had seven tackles with a sack.

Northeastern Oklahoma A&M (5-4) has dropped four straight after starting the year 5-0, which included wins over Coffeyville, eighth-ranked Butler, Highland and Independence. They are coming off a 52-24 loss to Hutchinson.

Jackson Jensen has thrown for over 1,600 yards and 17 touchdowns, both Ashford Landheart and Todd Jones have over 440 yards receiving with nine combined TDs, and Nathaniel Stanley leads the ground attack with 943 yards and 12 touchdowns.

"Like everybody we have faced, they have an explosive offense," Kratch said. "We'll try to make them one-dimensional and execute to win the football game."

As a team, the Golden Norsemen are averaging 380 yards and 35 points per game while allowing 342 yards and 27 points.
