LAKE PARK – The St. Edmond offense came back to life in a big way here Friday night.
The Gaels piled up over 350 yards of total offense on eight first-half touchdowns, posting a resounding 62-14 victory over Harris-Lake Park to snap a three-game losing skid.
Thomas Ehn had four TD strikes, Matthew Crimmins ran in three scores and Jack Stucky added one on the ground to force a running clock early in the second for St. Edmond (3-4 overall, 3-2 in district).
Ehn completed 5 of 10 passes for 119 yards, hitting senior Ty Mericle three times for 89 yards. All three connections went for touchdowns, as Jack Webster also caught a score from Ehn, who now has 23 TDs on the year.
"It felt great to see the kids go out and have success on offense, defense and special teams," SEHS head coach Matt Dillon said. "The past few weeks have been tough, but these guys never hung their heads and continued to work hard in practice.
"I know they are going to come out again next week and give it everything they have."
Crimmins made a triumphant return to action, rushing 12 times for 238 yards. That included rushing TDs of 50, 42 and 30 yards. Stucky also converted three two-point attempts in the opening 24 minutes of play.
The St. Edmond defense was just as strong, holding the Wolves (1-6, 1-4) to minus-23 yards from scrimmage. That included 38 rushing yards lost, as Crimmins had a sack and recovered a fumble. Griffin Laufersweiler and Gavin McClain each picked off passes.
"Matthew ran the ball hard," Dillon said. "Thomas did a great job finding the open receiver and the offensive line blocked well. Our defense got after the quarterback and tackled about as well as they have all season long."
About the only negative for the Gaels was penalties, as they were flagged eight times for 100 yards.
Gavin McClain added a 73-yard touchdown run in the third. The freshman had broken free earlier on the drive for a long score, but the call was overturned on a hold.
"It was nice that we were able to give several kids playing time there in the second half," Dillon said. "They also work hard to help prepare the starters for the week by running scout team offense and defense, so to reward them was a positive."
Harris-Lake Park got on the board twice late in the fourth, as Grady Olson and Easton Reimers each had touchdown runs. The Wolves came into the night with just two offensive scores on the season.
St. Edmond will conclude the regular season next Friday vs. No. 9 Kingsley-Pierson. It will mark their first game inside Dodger Stadium since Sept. 17. Harris-Lake Park heads to GTRA.
