LE MARS – The Fort Dodge boys golf team wrapped up play this season here on Monday at a Class 4A district meet.
The Dodgers tied for 10th overall with a 337 with Sioux City East. Council Bluffs Lincoln claimed the team title with a 293, finishing two shots ahead of Waukee and four ahead of Dallas Center-Grimes.
Brody Sneed of Council Bluffs Lincoln fired a 7-under for medalist honors at Willow Creek Golf Course.
Fort Dodge was led by senior Mason Frevert, as he fired an 80. Classmate Trace Rial followed with an 82, as sophomore Cameron Beck shot an 85, a new career-best.
Junior Camden Sassman carded a 90, senior Davis Underberg a 92 and sophomore Holden Doster had a 102.
"Those three seniors have done a lot for our program," FDSH head coach Nick Vinson said. "They helped build us back to competing with the rest of the state. I told them after how much I appreciate them and that I couldn't thank them enough.
"Mason and Trace both played good golf. They just had a couple holes get away from them. I feel bad for Davis because I know he wanted to have a better final round, but he just couldn't get anything going."
The 4A state golf championships take place Oct. 12-13 from Davenport Country Club in Pleasant Valley.
