Through constant rain and capricious winds, the Iowa Central golf program put together a strong round to sweep the Triton Invitational here on Monday at the Fort Dodge Country Club.

Okira Quintero won the women's individual title and led Iowa Central, while Syeda Laiba Shah and Azul Orantes tied for third. Quintero was the gold medalist at the spring Triton Invitational as well.

Behind Quintero, Iowa Central finished five shots ahead of Southeast Community College, with North Iowa Area Community College placing third.

"It’s always fun and good to win at home," ICCC head coach Kris Graewin said. "We were able to get through some crazy weather and played pretty well. We've got a very deep team this year and competition is a premium.

"We have a big event coming up this week that we're excited for."

Quintero won her title by a single shot over Charli Sievers from Southeast. The sophomore recorded one birdie with five pars.

On the men's side, Pene Welton fired a 1-over to finish second individually. Luke Yarnold, Charlie Dumas and Will Turner all shot 2-over to tie for fifth.

The Triton men were also crowned team champions this past spring at the home invite.

Iowa Central was five shots ahead of Iowa Lakes, followed by Southeast, DMACC, NIACC and Simpson. There were 18 total men's squads in the field.

The Triton B squad finished tied for sixth. The ICCC C group was tied for 10th, and the Triton D unit tied for 13th on the day.

Walton's round included two birdies on the back nine along with seven pars. He also carded six pars on the front.

Yarnold had three birdies. Both Dumas and Turner each had two.

Drew Henderson of Iowa Lakes, a former North Union standout, won the individual title with a 2-under round of 69. Henderson had an eagle on the par-5 15th, and tallied four birdies.

Next action for the Iowa Central men will be the Duane Chanay Invitational on Monday and Tuesday in East Moline, Ill., at the Short Hills Country Club. The Triton women are off until Sept. 28-29 when they compete in the Hannibal LaGrange University Fall Invitational in Hannibal, Mo. at Norwoods Golf Club.
