Tritons close busy week with 2-1 home effort

The third-ranked Iowa Central volleyball team went 2-1 on the weekend to close out a busy week at their annual Triton Invitational.

On Friday, the Tritons (11-1 overall) knocked off Allen County in five sets before suffering their first setback of the year versus Cowley. Iowa Central finished the weekend with a 3-1 victory over Madison College.

Against Allen County, the Tritons fell 25-20. They bounced back with a 25-9 win, but dropped a 25-22 decision. They rallied to set up a fifth and deciding game with a 25-13 triumph, and they sealed the deal with a 15-9 victory.

Fort Dodge Senior High graduate Meah McCaleb had 21 digs and four assists. Kampbell Bryte had 12 kills, while Grace Farnsworth had nine.

The Tritons lost to Cowley, 25-19, 25-17, 25-16. They responded by taking care of Madison College on Saturday, opening with a 25-16 win to start the contest.

The Tritons lost an epic 35-33 game, but took care of business from there with 25-23 and 26-24 triumphs.

Iowa Central is back in action on Tuesday at Hawkeye Community College for a 6 p.m. start.
