Triton men pitch home shutout in soccer

The Iowa Central men's soccer team got back in the win column with a 2-0 victory over Dakota Wesleyan here Wednesday in their home opener.
Nearing the half in a scoreless battle, the Tritons (2-2 overall) got on the board less than five minutes before the break. They added an insurance goal early in the second half, snapping a two-match losing skid with the win.
After starting the year off with a 4-3 victory over East Central, Iowa Central fell on the road at Marshalltown and State Fair. They remain at home, hosting Dakota County Tech on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
In Council Bluffs, the 14th-ranked (NJCAA Div. II) Iowa Central women fell to No. 5 (NJCAA Div. I) Iowa Western, 4-2. The Tritons jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on a pair of goals by Ronniellia Bubb.
Bubb found the back of the net less than four minutes into the match and added her second goal four minutes later. The Reivers rallied, making it 2-1 at the half before scoring three times in the second.
Gala Corbacho had two goals, with Morgan Crees and Covadonga Istillarte each scoring once.
Alyssa Tucker was credited with five saves in net for Iowa Central (1-2), which next hosts Dakota County Tech on Saturday at 5 p.m.
